Nelle macchine rettificatrici che lavorano con il metodo di forma è possibile usare mole di piccolo diametro che consentono di rettificare ingranaggi vicini a spallamenti o ad altri impedimenti. Nel caso rappresentato nella foto si vede appunto un ingranaggio di un albero che non potrebbe essere rettificato con una mola a vite di grande diametro.
Se le mole sono di piccolo diametro è opportuno, quando il numero di pezzi lo giustifica, di usare mole in CBN.
